Gyaru nail trends are also some larger Japanese nail trends in general, but I tried to keep it mostly from salons frequented by gyaru. For a nail art fan, there’s a lot of creativity to take from these. Photos were taken from Nail Salon Glory, Carry, Glamb, Ally’s Etoille, Disco and Rounge.

A nice novella playing on the old theme of the Master/slave bond in a fantasy setting; the village where Daniel lives is bound by an ancient pact with the Kin lords to offer, or better sacrifice, one youth every year. When the chosen is Daniel’s sister, he cannot let it happen: while his sister is loved by everyone, and engaged, Daniel knows he has no better future ahead of him, he prefers the company of men and that is the worst sin according to the priest. So Daniel volunteers to be the sacrificial lamb to the Kin lords, and he is not expecting anything better than becoming like an animal: the Kin lords drink human blood and the offerings are to become their life substance providers.Vale is the trainer of the Kin, he is the one who has to take Daniel in the first days and explain him what will be his dues. What Vale is not expecting is to bond with Daniel in a way that goes beyond the training. Daniel is a kind and gentle soul that well suit the similar behaviour of Vale. Vale is not used to train with forceful imposition, he is more like a whisperers, letting his teachings sip into the offerings.
The feeling of the story is more or less that of a fairy tale, maybe a little sexier than an old fashioned one, but still, it was like in those tales, where the godmother fairy will arrive to make everything right and grant the happily ever after to the couple.

Not as many scans as the previous months. I'm thinking about adding in the UFA girls that aren't in H!P (Kikka, Stylips, and the Up Up Girls) because they do some magazine stuff too.

Jeong Nam-jin, a 31-year-old bachelor living in Doksan-dong, western Seoul, has been rocking Nike Air Force 1 mid-tops for the past three years. He's a maniac for the classic kicks, but the real reason he sports the off-white shoes is because there are few other choices that allow him to sneak in an extra few inches in height.
"I've been trying so many different dress shoes and sneakers, but this is the best pair I can insert a layer of height-increasing insoles into", said Jeong, who is 162 centimeters (5 feet, 3 inches) tall - 12 centimeters shorter than the average Korean man.
"If you pick the wrong pair of shoes like low-tops, it's hard to insert the height increasers. You can still insert them, but it's impossible to walk around", added Jeong, who's been using a variety of padding for over eight years.

Me: "I'm not the boss of you."

Recently, Lee Hyori expressed how she felt standing next to Chloe Moretz who is only fifteen years old.
On May 26, Lee Hyori tweeted, “I’m not sure if I should feel happy about how my body apparently looked better standing next to a fifteen year old.”
This tweet by Lee Hyori was a response to many netizen’s positive comments about the photo she took with Bae Doo Na and Chloe Moretz. As seen in the photo, Chloe Moretz seems very mature for her age. Lee Hyori, who’s standing right next to Chloe Moretz, still seems very confident about her beauty.
Some of Netizen’s comments were, “Lee Hyori definitely has a better body than Chloe Moretz,” ”I think Lee Hyori has the best body,” and more.
Meanwhile, Lee Hyori, Chloe Moretz, and Bae Doo Na all attended the “World of Calvin Klein“ event on May 24.
How do you think Lee Hyori looks standing next to Chloe Moretz?

I am not making progress. Part of it is that I haven't been able to afford my full doses of testosterone -- the treatment runs a little over $300 a month, which I pay completely out of pocket -- and so I've been stretching it out to half-doses, figuring some T going into my system was better than none. (Medically speaking, this isn't wholly unsound, as many trans guys start off on low doses.)
Thanks to Grey, I had a wonderful birthday weekend anyway. When we're alone together, the rest of the world recedes to the point where even gender seems relatively unimportant. And he can always boost my confidence, and he's so romantic, and he even seems to think I'm interesting. I know, the man must be deranged, but I sure do love him.
Re: misgendering, there was a good moment of comic relief at the drag show we attended last night. Local drag diva Bootsy DeVille was talking to us at the bar at Michael's on the Park before her show, and she turned to me and said, "I have a question for you. Now it's hard for me to phrase this right ... " Grey and I were both bracing for The Question, which I wouldn't have really minded answering for Bootsy, but instead she said rather hesitantly, "Did you use to be the boyfriend of a famous writer? Because we were googling Billy Martin, and there seemed to be some connection ... "
After collapsing with laughter, we explained as best we could, and only later did I realize I should have said, "Why yes, I used to date Stephen King, but I dumped him for Grey!"

If I had to be true, I didn’t like so much Eduardo the first time we met; a straight man who is “forced” to have sex with men since all women on earth are dead, he really is not treating them well, actually he is a real bastard and in the position of Lincoln I would have not given him the time of a day. But, first Lincoln didn’t see how Eduardo was before, and due to his resemblance with Eduardo’s dead wife, Lincoln receives a way better treatment than all the other men.The author doesn’t explain who Eduardo and Lincoln are before embarking on that ship that is basically leading to hell; maybe since it was not important, the world is falling apart, and doesn’t really matter who you were or what you did. We can only understand that Eduardo is straight and very wealthy, and Lincoln is somewhat “innocent”, believing in love at first sight and all. When Lincoln sees Eduardo, he recognizes the love of his life and in that situation it’s not important to establish if Eduardo is a good or bad man; in a situation where there is no hope for a future, what really matter is to enjoy the moment.
This is a very hard to “digest” horror, so if you are faint of heart, be careful before picking it up. The relationship between Eduardo and Lincoln is very physical, founded on sex and instinct. That is something that I had already the chance to notice in other novels where the main character is a straight man having a gay relationship, like he had to justify his relationship with another man with only a physical reason, emotions are not part of the equation.

So beautiful.

B1A4 is seeing much success already on the music charts with their song “Baby Good Night“.
The special edition of their first album ‘Ignition‘ was released on May 24th and their title track “Baby Good Night” ranked first on MelOn with release.
They continued the streak as “Baby Good Night” was seen ranked first for two days on MelOn’s real time charts, as well as ranking in the top of other music sites like Soribada, Cyworld, and more as well.
Newsen met with the B1A4 members recently in the waiting room of a music show and asked them how they felt. They responded, “When we saw us ranked first, it was so amazing.” The boys also told Newsen that they will continue to work hard.
“Baby Good Night” is a song that is about a boyfriend who cheats on his girlfriend after she goes to sleep. Leader of B1A4, Jinyoung, composed the song while he and Baro wrote the song. When asked if the lyrics are based off of his own experience, Jinyoung laughed as he replied, “There really isn’t anyone among our members who is like that.”

Marijane Meaker (born May 27, 1927) is an American novelist and short story writer, who has used multiple pseudonyms for different genres. From 1952 to 1969 she wrote twenty mystery and crime novels under the name Vin Packer including the immensely popular Spring Fire, that is credited with launching the genre of lesbian "pulp" fiction, although the majority of Packer's books didn't address homosexuality or gay characters. Using her own observations of lesbians in the 1950s and 1960s, she wrote a series of nonfiction books under the name Ann Aldrich from 1955 to 1972. In 1972 she switched genres and pen names once more to begin writing for young adults, and became quite successful as M.E. Kerr, producing over 20 novels and winning multiple awards. She was described by The New York Times Book Review as "one of the grand masters of young adult fiction." As Mary James, she has written four books for a younger children's audience.
Irrespective of genre or pen name, Meaker's books have in common complex characters that have difficult relationships and complicated problems, who rail against conformity. Meaker said of this approach, "I was a bookworm and a poetry lover. When I think of myself and what I would have liked to have found in books those many years ago, I remember being depressed by all the neatly tied-up, happy-ending stories, the abundance of winners, the themes of winning, solving, finding --- when around me it didn't seem that easy. So I write with a different feeling when I write for young adults. I guess I write for myself at that age."( Read more... )

The fabric of my nighttime twin is made of desire, of music, from the ash of the books that mattered most. That fabric is stressed and frayed when I am in-between books, when a suitable suitor isn’t lined up for immediate consumption after finishing a satisfying book, I’ll rip through back issues of the New Yorker and pull out all of the amazing but just-not-right-now books I’ve hoarded for years. I’ll visit the Strand and hunt online and never ask for recommendations as this is my problem, not yours. It’s as personally crushing as an engagement deferred. Often I’ll fortify myself with four or five pending titles so that when I finish a book there are ample choices, always a healthy mixture of fiction and nonfiction, representing different cultures and time periods (I favor all things Japanese, the later Roman Empire, and Twentieth Century author biographies and in keeping with my tradition of reading one author biography a year and breaking my own rules, I’ve read five so far this year and can strongly recommend Marijane Meaker’s memoir of her relationship with Patricia Highsmith). --Tom Cardamone( Marijane Meaker, 2000, by Robert Giard )

wut?! where's my drummer boy's song?

From his blog:
Lord only knows why I was on there.
Well that tv show was - as predicted - fucking insane. It’s quite difficult to know what these Japanese shows are actually supposed to be about, but I'm guessing it was like some kind of version of our very own Top Of The Pops (R.I.P.).
It was all executed with military precision. For example they give you instructions like:
You will exit the dressing room at 8:34
You will enter corridor A at 8:37
You will shake this persons hand at 8:39
You will perform said song at 8:41 etc . . .
And the most amazing thing is it all runs like clockwork!
I was on with a load of Japanese acts one of which was a manufactured girl group called AKB48. I kid you not. There was maybe 30 of them all between the ages of 13-15!!! I suddenly started to feel very old.
The presenter was some old dude who looked at best like a James Bond villain.
It was loud fast and chaotic. Lord only knows why I was on there.
A good laugh all the same though.
Off to Osaka today.
That's all I've got for you I'm afraid. Jet-lagged out of my mind.
ONWARDS (and a little bit sideways!)

This week Masterpiece on PBS aired "The Reichenbach Fall" and I finally got to see what everyone was going on about months ago. I really enjoyed it.
Disclosure: I do not have an aesthetic appreciation for many of the stars of British genre TV. Cumberbatch, David Tennant, that kid that plays Merlin, Matt Smith...I'm sorry, but I don't find any of them handsome in the least. Especially that Merlin kid. Gah.
Anyway, while I do not consider Mr. Cumberbatch particularly handsome, whoo, his voice! Oh boy does he have a sexy voice. Having seen him all over the place and not having actually heard him, I was kind of surprised when I heard him speak. Rowr.
Anyway anyway, despite not knowing the full relationship between this version of Holmes and Watson, I was still kind of weepy over that bit at the end of the episode where John says something like, "I was so alone and I was lucky to have you in my life." Sniff!
I think they should have left off that very last scene (not getting too specific lest I spoil for those who haven't seen it, although I think it was only me) to make it a little more cliffhanging. I might go looking for the next episode whenever it premieres across the pond. I'd like to see what happens.

On May 22nd, former Morning Musume member Yaguchi Mari and actor Nakamura Masaya held a wedding ceremony at St. Grace Cathedral in Aoyama.

(Click for larger image)
After holding their ceremony, the two held a press conference at their reception, where Nakamura expressed, “I was moved. Both our fathers cried from beginning to end, which made me cry. But as the groom, I think I was able to hold a successful wedding ceremony.” Meanwhile, Yaguchi revealed, “I’ve always lived at my parents’ house, so it really hit me when I thought about how I would be leaving.”

Back in December of 2011, we reported that Excellent Entertainment were in preparations of releasing a new idol boy group named “E-7“.
They were scheduled to debut in early 2012 but due to some issues, they delayed the release. The group originally consisted of 7 members: In Seong, Kim Hyun, Hyung Min, Sang Young, Young Soo, Nam Gung, and Bok Eun but it seems they’re now a 6 member group. Nam Gung is no longer listed on Excellent Entertainment’s website, and all of their new promotional material only features 6 members.
Even with only six members, they will keep the name “E-7″. They’re scheduled to release their debut music video, “Don’t Let You Go” soon and released a teaser video for it. It seems the video was filmed in Tokyo, Japan as you can see the Tokyo Tower and the Rainbow Bridge in the background.
Check out their debut video teaser!
